Affluent Neglect

Society expresses great concern for poor, underserved children and the increased likelihood they may lack access to health care and education, or that they may turn to drugs or crime in adulthood. Less attention is paid to children of affluent parents who have their own set of problems. Emotional neglect often goes unnoticed or unreported, which may…

Crystal meth addiction treatment

At Paracelsus Recovery, we provide specialised and exclusive methamphetamine addiction rehabilitation programmes. Our first step is the provision of a safe and medically supervised detoxification to manage your physical dependency on crystal meth. While withdrawal is always difficult, we will make this process as comfortable as possible with supporting infusions (IVs) and various therapies. The withdrawal protocol will be conducted and supervised by our clinical nurse and psychiatrist.

Once you have completed the withdrawal process, our team of experts will provide an individualised treatment programme. Your programme will be tailor-made to address the specificities of your methamphetamine dependency and to manage any co-occurring mental health challenges.

We treat every client as a carefully managed project. The personalised treatment plan is agreed upon by the core team and carefully coordinated for the duration of the residential programme. You will also receive one-to-one sessions throughout your stay and a live-in therapist who will stay at the same residence 24/7 for support.

We also provide extensive biochemical restoration and numerous complementary therapies such as acupuncture and yoga therapy to manage stress levels and restore your health. We treat one client at a time to ensure absolute discretion and unparalleled care.

We can provide luxury crystal meth addiction rehabilitation in London and Zurich.

Crystal meth side effects

Crystal meth is a highly addictive illegal and dangerous stimulant drug that belongs to a class of drugs known as methamphetamines. Some methamphetamines are used in prescription medications to help individuals struggling with conditions such as ADHD. Crystal meth is made using several toxic substances such as antifreeze or battery acid, which heighten the risks involved.

Negative side effects include (but are not limited to)

• Hallucinations, panic and psychosis.
• Bizarre, aggressive and erratic behaviour.
• Infectious diseases and abscesses.
• Depression.
• Brain damage.
• Facial sores and scratching.
• Tooth decay ‘meth mouth.’
• Permanent damage to blood vessels.
• Heart attacks or strokes.
• Death.

Once crystal meth enters the body, it releases large quantities of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain which makes the individual feel highly euphoric, energetic, confident and lacking inhibition. Over time, crystal meth can alter the brain’s biochemistry and lead to dependency. Once the brain’s reward system has become dependent on the substance, it can be very difficult to feel calm, content or happy without it.

Many people who use crystal meth take the drug over several days and remain perpetually high throughout this time. Not only is the lack of sleep detrimental to their wellbeing, but this can lead to the two key features of addiction; tolerance and withdrawal. Tolerance refers to the need to continually increase the dosage of a substance to achieve the same ‘high.’ With tolerance comes the development of withdrawal symptoms. An individual is in withdrawal when they experience anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, physical illness and depression once the drug wears off.

Signs of addiction include

• A lack of concern about personal appearance, social activities, loved ones or responsibilities.
• Psychotic behaviour, such as hallucinations or paranoia.
• Repeated failed attempts to quit.
• Experiencing cravings and withdrawal symptoms.
• The inability to find joy in activities once loved or relationships.

We provide crystal meth addiction rehabilitation in Zurich and London.

Crystal meth is a potent synthetic psychostimulant whereas heroin is an opioid derived from the opium poppy plant. Both substances can be highly addictive. At Paracelsus Recovery, we provide treatment programmes and rehabilitation for heroin addiction and methamphetamine addiction.

In addition to our in-depth residential treatment programmes, we also provide a shorter 7–14 days ‘Executive Detox’ programme in Zurich and London for those who don’t have time to commit to a longer treatment programme. Our Executive Detox programme offers a safe withdrawal procedure, psychoeducation and numerous complementary therapies. However, methamphetamine addiction is a highly challenging addiction to overcome and we would recommend a four to eight weeks treatment programme in order to achieve the best results.

At Paracelsus Recovery, treatment will vary depending on each individual’s unique set of needs. Upon arrival, we provide an in-depth medical and psychiatric assessment which will help us to design your bespoke treatment plan. We can assist you in a medically safe and carefully planned detox from methamphetamine. During the treatment programme, our functional medicine specialist will provide biochemical and neurochemical restoration to restore your physical health. To support your psychological and emotional health, we provide many hours of one-to-one therapy sessions catered to your needs as well as emotional support provided by the live-in therapist.

An individual who is abusing crystal meth may exhibit symptoms such as weight loss, dilated pupils, rapid eye movement, erratic movements and psychotic behaviour that can sometimes be violent.
