Affluent Neglect

Society expresses great concern for poor, underserved children and the increased likelihood they may lack access to health care and education, or that they may turn to drugs or crime in adulthood. Less attention is paid to children of affluent parents who have their own set of problems. Emotional neglect often goes unnoticed or unreported, which may…

Why Some People Think Sex Addiction Doesn’t Exist

Does sex addiction really exist? Is sexual addiction a true disorder? Or is hypersexuality just an excuse for irresponsible behavior or infidelity? Those are complicated questions, and even experts in the world of behavioral health and addiction will probably never agree on the answers.  Many people think hypersexuality should be classified as an addiction. They…

Mental health conditions — residential rehabilitation

At Paracelsus Recovery, our luxury mental health treatment programmes are based on pragmatism and empathy. We will help you overcome your mental health challenges with tailored treatment in beautiful surroundings.

One Client at a Time

Unparalleled staff to patient ratio of 15:1

Our mental health treatment programmes include

Intensive psychiatry and psychotherapy

Our expert psychiatrists and psychotherapists will help you address the emotional issues, traumas and negative thoughts that are related to your mental health condition. Psychoeducation will provide you with more knowledge about your mental health condition by exploring the triggers of the illness and how to manage or eliminate the symptoms. If necessary, and with your agreement, the psychiatrist will also prescribe medication.

Live-in therapist

The live-in therapist stays in the same chosen residence as you and is available for emotional support and therapeutic assistance whenever you need it most, around the clock.

Biochemical restoration

When a person suffers from a mental health condition, their diet and lifestyle often take a toll leading to a lack of essential nutrients that the mind needs to function optimally. Biochemical restoration will restore these nutritional deficits and repair any damage done to the brain and body on a cellular level. Healthy biochemistry is integral to a long-lasting recovery because it improves cognitive skills, physical vitality and emotional stability.

Physical health therapies

We provide numerous complementary therapies based on individuals’ needs and recommendations from our medical team to ensure that your treatment is as stress-free as possible. These can include yoga to strengthen the mind-body connection, massage to encourage relaxation, acupuncture to provide relief from chronic pain and reflexology to promote the body’s natural healing process.

Lifestyle adjustments

We provide numerous hours of lifestyle and nutrition counselling to help you examine how certain lifestyle choices have influenced your mental health. Our specialists will help you implement a healthier lifestyle.

William Sitwell

“We’ll give you your own apartment with views over Lake Zurich. You’ll have a housekeeper who will cook and clean for you as well as a team of 10 of us caring for you,’ [Jan Gerber, CEO of Paracelsus Recovery] tells me. ‘We’ll conduct an array of assessments: physical, emotional, and biochemical. We’ll identify areas of concern or ones to watch, and with treatments, therapy, yoga, and massage, we’ll implement a programme. Our aim is to add quality years to your life.

William Sitwell, Haute Anxiety: I checked into the world’s most expensive rehab – but I never expected it would break me down in this way. The Telegraph.

Mental health conditions in ultra-high-net-worth individuals

Mental health conditions are often widespread amongst ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) individuals due to the stress that is found in their environments. A private survey we conducted among UHNW families found that over 70% reported an addiction or mental health issue in their immediate family.

The majority of these issues were left untreated because of the stigma surrounding mental health and UHNW individuals. For example, if a C‑Suite executive suffers from a mental health condition and word got out about their difficulties, it could detrimentally impact their company’s stock price. Similarly, an individual living in the public eye will experience numerous negative stereotypes attached to the idea of using ‘rehab stints’ for publicity.

Recovery is one of the most challenging journeys people will ever undertake and the idea that they are doing it for ‘attention’ can have a negative impact on their self-esteem.

At Paracelsus Recovery, we take all of these unique obstacles into account. We only treat one client at a time to ensure we provide the most confidential treatment available. We also provide bespoke accommodation and 5‑star hospitality to ensure that Paracelsus Recovery is a ‘home away from the home’ for the client.

When a person is suffering from mental illness, life can feel isolating. If they are not aware they have an illness, they may believe that this is ‘who they are.’ As a result, they can internalise the misguided belief that they are weak which could not be further from the truth. Mental illness is just like physical ill-health in that it can affect anyone, regardless of their background, income or success.

We recognise that people suffering from mental health problems are in a great deal of pain. This pain can be physical, psychological or neurobiological. We are well equipped to help you process this pain, address your symptoms and restore your wellbeing.

FAQs

Psychotherapy in conjunction with biochemical restoration and sometimes medication is the most effective mental health treatment.

At Paracelsus Recovery, we believe that there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ treatment when it comes to mental health conditions. Our treatment ideology is multidisciplinary and comprehensive, incorporating psychotherapy, biochemical restoration, psychiatric support and complementary therapies to manage stress levels and restore physical and mental health.

Underlying mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or posttraumatic stress disorder are some of the leading causes of addiction issues. At Paracelsus Recovery, we address any co-occurring mental health conditions with the aim of treating the whole person – mind, body and soul. We will never just treat the symptoms, as we believe it is equally important to address the root causes that lead to the symptoms in the first place.

Yes, we treat numerous mental health conditions including bipolar disorder. Do not hesitate to contact us if you are enquiring about a specific mental health condition that is not listed above as we have extensive experience in treating various behavioural and emotional issues.

We provide mental health rehabilitation in Zurich and in London. In Zurich, all therapy sessions will take place in our lakefront penthouse apartment or a leading hotel. In London, treatment can take place in one of London’s leading hotels, an apartment or in the comfort of your home. Sessions are scheduled in the hotel or home and in the specialists’ private consulting rooms as appropriate.

Our treatment programmes are extremely private. We treat one client at a time to ensure absolute confidentiality and all employees operate under a strict code of conduct. Our communication policy is equally strict and includes the use of an alias and alternate date of birth (unless requested otherwise) and we only use initials or nicknames in internal communications.
