Children growing up in affluent homes often have to navigate high expectations, emotional neglect, and a lack of boundaries, amongst other environmental factors.

All of these variables can heighten that child’s chances of using substance abuse as a coping mechanism. To create greater awareness of the correlation between familial wealth and mental ill-health, Paracelsus Recovery has designed an algorithm that provides a statistical analysis of your child’s risk of an overdose.

This Overdose Risk Calculator has been constructed by the research team of Paracelsus Recovery. It applies an algorithm that combines publicly accessible data, privately conducted surveys amongst ultra-high-net-worth families and private clinics, and information obtained from Paracelsus Recovery’s experience of treating families battling substance abuse issues. The input data applies to children in the 12-16 age bracket, and the results depict the statistical likelihood of that child experiencing an overdose from a substance (illicit drugs, alcohol, prescription medication) over the course of their lifetime, leading to either death or hospitalization.
